We are reading Romeo and Juliet right now, and last week I quizzed the class to see how much they understood about the plot. I asked out loud, "Who is going to be the messenger between Romeo and Juliet as they plan their wedding?"
One boy blurted out, "Tybalt!!!" I don't know if he knew how funny he was being, but most of the class, including him, laughed. I took it as a good sign that they are understanding it somewhat.

High School Students
Well, now I teach high school, part time, and I have been enjoying it. I'm not sure they provide as much material for a blog about classroom laughs as 7th grade students. Although, I haven't really been looking.
Looking back on the year so far, I think the most hilarious moment of this year was when a student of mine was trying to write on the SmartBoard. Those things are as difficult to write on as those signature machines that you see at every check out counter these days. What was so funny about it was that he would write and then get frustrated at us when we couldn't read it. Gosh! we were so dumb!
I guess I'm going to have to keep on trying.
